Caring for wooden wicks in coconut wax candles is essential to ensure they burn properly and last longer. Here are some tips for maintaining wooden wicks in coconut wax candles:

1. Trim the Wick Before Every Burn

Trim the wooden wick to about 1/8 inch before each use. This helps prevent the wick from becoming too large and ensuring a clean, even burn. A properly trimmed wick will prevent excessive flickering or smoking, and also help control the size of the flame.

2. Ensure Proper Wax Pooling

When lighting the candle, allow the wax to melt across the entire surface to prevent tunneling. Wooden wicks require more time to establish an even melt pool than cotton wicks.

Coconut wax is known for its slower burning and creamy texture, so allow for sufficient burn time for the wax to fully pool.

3. Avoid Drafts

Wooden wicks are more sensitive to drafts, which can cause the flame to flicker or burn unevenly. Make sure the candle is placed in a draft-free area.

4. Lighting the Wooden Wick

Wooden wicks can sometimes be more difficult to light compared to cotton wicks. Use a long lighter or a match to ignite the wick, and ensure it’s lit evenly across its length. Once lit, give it a few minutes to establish a steady flame before extinguishing the candle.
